I am delighted to present this report on the recent achievements and growth of the Kuala Lumpur International Education Consortium (KLIEC). As the Group CEO, it gives me great pleasure to share with you the progress we have made in enrolling students and expanding our undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional studies programmes both in Malaysia and overseas.
I am also thrilled to announce that KLIEC has successfully enrolled 3,517 students across our various programmes from 1st January 2020 until 30th June 2023 (over a period of three and a half years). This remarkable accomplishment showcases the trust and recognition we have gained as a leading education consortium in providing high-quality education and opportunities to students seeking higher education.
Undergraduate Studies
Our undergraduate studies sector has witnessed significant growth in enrolment. We are closely collaborating with higher education institutions nationwide to develop the International Dual Education Accreditation Systems (iDEAS). This initiative aims to transform previously unremarkable programmes into highly sought-after ones in Malaysia.
Kolej SPACE at UTMKL offers six programmes under iDEAS, namely the Double Diploma in Technology Management, Double Diploma in Computer Science, Double Diploma in Rail Transport Management, Double Diploma in Management, Double Diploma in Accounting and Double Diploma in Halal Industry Management.
Additionally, the University of Gloucestershire, United Kingdom offers the BA (Hons) Business Management and Strategy and BSc (Hons) Computing as part of the iDEAS programme under 2+1 and 2½+1 twinning format respectively.
All iDEAS programmes are enriched with the London Youth Leadership Award (LYLA) Initiative. This allows students to spend a week or two in London, enhancing their public speaking skills and fostering leadership and creativity.
Postgraduate Studies
In our postgraduate studies sector, we have observed a significant increase in the number of students choosing to pursue advanced degrees through KLIEC. This achievement can be attributed to our partnerships with esteemed universities such as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Putra Business School at UPM, University of Gloucestershire UK, Swiss School of Management Italy, and Warsaw Management University.
In line with our strategic focus, we have made the decision to discontinue intake for the University of the West of Scotland and the University of South Wales. Although we had longstanding collaborations with these two renowned UK universities, our consortium will now concentrate solely on our partnership with the University of Gloucestershire. This concentration will allow us to enhance our collaboration and deliver exceptional educational opportunities to our students.
Professional Studies
Our professional studies sector has played a crucial role in expanding the breadth of KLIEC. We have observed a growing number of professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills through our specialised programmes.
As part of our efforts, we have introduced UNINOW and UNIES Professional Programme in collaboration with UTMSPACE Services Sdn Bhd (USSB). Programmes under UNINOW serves as a viable option for SPM graduates who are not eligible to enroll in an MQA-accredited diploma programme.
UNINOW and UNIES will be offering programmes offered by USSB under its Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Studies (C-CEPS). All our professional programmes hold microcredential accreditation from the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA).
Thank you.
