Professional Certificate in Underwater Welding Technology
Underwater welding is crucial in the underwater construction industry that includes oil and gas exploration, repair of offshore structures and pipelines, shipbuilding and many more. It is a specialised job that is in constant high demand due to it hazardous nature, yet highly alluring for its lucrative pay.
Realising the need to produce qualified professionals that can persevere through the constantly evolving industry, KLIEC curated an initiative known as the High Income Graduates with High Income Skills (HEIGHTS), which will be offering the Underwater Welding Programme. Its objective is to create certified welders that are highly skilled and is marketable in various industries, worldwide.
Currently, the programme has been absorbed under UTMSPACE Services Sdn Bhd via the C-CEPS Platform and Kolej SPACE and are available at the Professional Certificate, Professional Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels.
The Advanced Diploma programme will adopt the WeldCraft-Pro training course that offers bespoke teaching methodology as outlined by the European Welding Federation (EWF). The programme is delivered through the Underwater Welding Engineering Centre (UWEC), a state-of-the-art underwater welding facility located in Bangi Selangor under the leadership of Prof. Ir. Dr. Hj. Mahadi Abd Murad.
UWEC is also certified by many notable corporations including HRDCorp and CIDB Malaysia.
