LEB Malaysia Launches First London Youth Leadership Award (LYLA) Programme with University of Hertfordshire
In 2022, London Examinations Board (LEB) Malaysia chose the University of Hertfordshire as the academic home to develop and deliver the inaugural London Youth Leadership Award (LYLA) Programme. The decision underscored LEB Malaysia’s commitment to creating impactful leadership pathways for young people by partnering with a university renowned for its emphasis on innovation, inclusivity, and lifelong learning—captured in its motto, “Seek Knowledge Throughout Life.”
The LYLA Programme was designed to nurture youth leaders with the skills, confidence, and global perspective needed to address contemporary challenges. Through a blend of seminars, workshops, and experiential learning, participants engage in activities that build critical thinking, collaboration, and adaptability—qualities essential for leadership in the 21st century. By hosting the first LYLA at the University of Hertfordshire, LEB Malaysia ensured that students experienced not only high-quality content but also the rich academic and cultural environment of a world-class institution.
This pioneering initiative reflects LEB Malaysia’s broader vision of empowering youth to become changemakers who can contribute meaningfully to society. The University of Hertfordshire, with its strong international community and commitment to student development, provided the ideal platform for the programme’s launch. The success of the first LYLA Programme has since paved the way for further collaborations, reinforcing the importance of cross-border partnerships in shaping a new generation of leaders. For LEB Malaysia, the collaboration was a milestone in aligning education with real-world leadership development, ensuring that the leaders of tomorrow are equipped to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
