Even though the collaboration between the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) and the London Examinations Board (LEB) Malaysia was relatively short-lived, spanning from 2019 to 2022, its impact was profound and lasting. The partnership not only enhanced LEB’s academic portfolio but also produced some of the finest MBA graduates Malaysia has seen in recent years.
The collaboration was founded on UWS’s reputation as one of Scotland’s most progressive universities, with its guiding motto, Doctrina Prosperitas (“Learning is Success”), aligning seamlessly with LEB’s mission of delivering high-quality, career-focused education. Through this synergy, Malaysian students were given the opportunity to pursue an MBA programme that combined global academic standards with local industry relevance.
During this period, the MBA students under the UWS–LEB collaboration benefitted from a unique learning experience: rigorous academic content delivered with practical applications, exposure to international perspectives, and the chance to develop leadership skills that are directly transferable to the professional environment. Many of these graduates have since gone on to excel in management, entrepreneurship, and executive roles, carrying forward the reputation of both institutions.
Although the formal collaboration concluded in 2022, its legacy continues through the success stories of the graduates. Their achievements stand as a testament to what can be accomplished when international collaboration is grounded in shared values of quality, innovation, and inclusivity in education.
As LEB Malaysia reflects on this partnership, it does so with pride. The MBA programme jointly delivered with UWS will always be remembered as an important milestone in its history—one that elevated the standards of postgraduate education and contributed to shaping the next generation of business leaders in Malaysia.
We’re incredibly proud to have achieved this ranking. As Scotland's leading university for widening participation, with the belief that education should be available to all, this achievement is testament to the hard work of each and every colleague in embedding that ethos.” - Professor James Miller, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of UWS
