Kolej SPACE Community Service Hulu Kelang, 29 November 2022
At KLIEC, we promote community service not merely to encourage our students to help others, but we value above all the positive impact that volunteering and making-a-difference has on our students.
Volunteering is an essential part of preparing students to take responsibility as open-minded, principled citizens in a global community. One of the volunteer project that the students undertook was cleaning the cemetery compound in Hulu Kelang as part of their accredited extra-curricular activity. During the project, students were able to see first-hand and understand how the work they did were able to create a significant impact within that community.
Student’s involvement in community service projects will challenge students to become leaders, be resourceful and savvy in the real world – all the necessary skills that will help them navigate and succeed in their studies and beyond. During these projects they practice leadership, problem-solving, collaboration with others, time management and communication.
When students get involved, they expand their worldview. When they reach out, they develop empathy. The students will understand that the work they do can make a difference in the world. At the end of the day, they will return to the classroom with a renewed perspective that classroom learning is applicable in the real world, which in turn, reinvigorates their passion for learning.
